Ok, era da un po' che volevo parlare di questo, e finalmente mi sono preso la briga di mettermici un po' su!
Il discorso nasce da
un mio topic già pubblicato in precedenza sul forum del
Kanzenshuu, che a sua volta prende spunto da
un altro topic di un altro utente del medesimo forum.
Quello che state per leggere è un discorso che potreste trovare a tratti inutile, ma volendo anche di grossa importanza... non so, punti di vista. Nel dubbio fate voi.
Riassumo in breve il contenuto: È risaputo, senza alcun razzismo, che i giapponesi non sono mai stati una cifra con l'inglese e la romanizzazione. Alcuni esempi possiamo notarli in
Dragon Ball stesso (
Beedel "
Videl ",
Begeeta "
Vegeta", ma anche
Gokuh/
Gokuu/
Gokou, "
Goku"). Completamente giustificati, in quanto ai tempi non esistevano delle traslitterazioni ufficiali dei nomi di fantasia scritti in katakana (in genere si adattano ispirandosi ai giochi di parole originali, come appunto facciamo noi con Videl o Vegeta... ma volendo, quelli che ho scritto prima non si possono considerare 100% errati). Ma ora non è questo il problema di cui voglio parlarvi (forse sulla questione nomi aprirò un nuovo topic un giorno, se ne avrò voglia...).
Ritornando in-topic, ecco come probabilmente agiva la
Toei riguardo la localizzazione estera di
Dragon Ball (prendete con delle pinzone grosse grosse, in quanto mie semplici supposizioni, che quasi sicuramente sono verità):
Toei Animation traduce(va) in inglese le sue produzioni (titoli di film/episodi, scripts, etc.), prima di mandarli ad eventuali acquirenti (coloro che si occupano poi della localizzazione in vari paesi del mondo). Questi contenuti sono scritti in un inglese pessimo, il quale potrebbe essere la causa di un sacco di problemi che ben conosciamo... ma andiamo per ordine.
Negli anni '90 circa, vengono doppiati in inglese, per il pubblico malesiano, i vari film di
Dragon Ball Z. Il doppiaggio non solo era di scarsa qualità e fatto da poche persone, ma aveva dei dialoghi totalmente sgrammaticati: the "
Saiya-people",
Vegeta/Bejīta pronunciato "
Bèita",
Gohan e
Goten che si chiamano "
Goku", e così via... molti di voi probabilmente conosceranno benissimo quel doppiaggio, essendo diventato un meme di internet:

kei17, trovò
un sito di Toei Animation in inglese in cui erano riportati i nomi di tutti i film, rendendosi conto che erano gli stessi nomi di quel famoso doppiaggio!
Da qui si è arrivati ad una semplice conclusione: la
Toei ha scritto personalmente quei dialoghi in inglese correggiuto, e i malesiani, evidentemente non conoscendo bene la lingua, hanno preso spunto direttamente da quelli.

DeAgostini, uscita nel 2006, con le copertine con lo sfondo giallo (in seguito la grafica fu modificata) nei suoi primi 39 numeri? Ecco, prendiamo in considerazione proprio QUEI 39 numeri.
Sul retro, come è giusto che sia, è riportato il titolo dei 4 episodi presenti nel DVD, seguiti però dal "titolo originale".
Titoli strambi, in inglese correggiuto, con cambi di nome continui, mmh... ed è qui che mi si è accesa una lampadina.
Altri non possono essere che i titoli originali forniti dalla
Toei stessa nei master originali!

Qui possiamo notare, oltre alla grammatica e ad alcuni nomi quasi identici agli originali, varie stranezze: I
Saiyan che spesso, oltre che
Saiya, vengono chiamati
Sayan (da qui l'origine della pronuncia italiana?),
Goku e
Gohan che vengono chiamati con i loro corrispettivi cinesi (
Wukong e
Wufan),
Kaiō che viene chiamato
Leptune (il che potrebbe aver dato origine alla traduzione "Nettuno", presente nel videogioco
Dragon Ball Z: I Leggendari Super Guerrieri per
Game Boy)... ma anche cose positive, come il riconoscere che
17 e
18 sono, effettivamente, dei cyborg, laddove si sarebbero potuti sbagliare facilmente definendoli androidi, per colpa dell'errore di
Toriyama nel definire
Jinzōningen (umani artificiali) tutte le creature numerate del
Dr. Gero (questo errore, in parte anche per via degli americani, è presente tutt'ora nelle traduzioni italiane dei videogiochi). Ah, Toriyama... quell'uomo non si smentisce mai.
Ultima chicca, prima di passare alle considerazioni finali, ce la fornisce
Olav F. Andersen, traduttore svedese di
Sailor Moon (altro anime della
Toei Animation). A quanto pare, le traduzioni sono state effettuate da script in lingua inglese (tradotti e forniti dalla
Toei stessa), che
Olav non mancò di definire "grammaticalmente atroci". Penso che questo basti e avanzi.
In conclusione, con tutto questo papiro, dov'è che voglio arrivare? Sappiamo con certezza che queste traduzioni sono arrivate sia in
Malesia che qui in
Italia, se non anche in altri stati europei/asiatici (escludendo l'
America). Stessa cosa vale per
Sailor Moon in
Svezia (e in
Italia magari?) e, probabilmente, per qualsiasi altro anime firmato
Toei Animation risalente agli anni '80-'90 (se non addirittura odierni).
Ora la mia domanda è una sola: senza mettere in dubbio la bravura degli adattatori della
Merak Film (e, considerando le fonti originali con cui devono aver avuto a che fare, andrebbero anche premiati per l'egregio lavoro che è stato svolto), che sia questo il vero motivo dietro alcuni cambi di nome, sviste e/o errori nei dialoghi?
Ho avuto modo di notare che alcuni di questi persistevano anche nei vecchi doppiaggi
Dynamic dei film (nel film di
Slug, quest'ultimo chiede a
Goku se viene dal pianeta
Saiya, non ricordo poi se c'era dell'altro, attualmente ho la memoria un po' corta).
Che sia questo il motivo per cui
Jiaozi/
Chaoz, inspiegabilmente, viene chiamato
Riff? Che sia questo il motivo per cui
Sayan viene da sempre scritto e pronunciato in questa maniera? Che sia questo il motivo per cui
Re Enma viene chiamato
Re Yammer (seguendo il nome originale della divinità buddhista
Yama)? Che sia questo il motivo di alcuni errori negli stessi dialoghi (sia nell'edizione italiana, sia in quelle estere)? Purtroppo, solo il tempo ci darà risposta.
Questo è quanto, per il momento! Informazioni che possono essere utili quanto inutili, ma è pur sempre un bene documentare. Qui vi lascio ai vostri commenti, alle vostre domande, teorie, delucidazioni, contributi, o tutto quello che volete!

Vorrei chiedere cortesemente a qualche buon'anima che le possiede, se può condividere qui con noi tutti i nomi "inglesi" degli episodi riportati sul retro, così da poter completare la lista!
